End Zone to End Zone Dribbling

Back to Activities

Description
•Partners pass the ball back and forth between each other in the end zone, one touch. (A & B, C & D)
•Whenever one of them wants to, they can take the ball and attempt to dribble it from one side to the other without their partner stealing the ball.
•If the dribbler makes it to the other end zone, they get a point, if the defender steals the ball, they get a point.
•Make the grid wide enough to accomodate the entire team without causing accidents.
•Having the players dictate themselves when they will take the ball away allows them to be self directed and gives them leadership responsibilities. This is much predfered over having the coach tell them when they can go.

Coaching Points
•Tackle immediately after the dribbler touches the ball on the dribble.
•Tackle with the ‘nearest foot’, use a poke tackle or a sliding tackle.
•Dribble with the foot away from the defender, shield defender if they get close.
•Use the laces or outside of foot for dribbling.
