Four vs. Three by Numbers
Back to Activities

Description
•Assign each player in a 4 vs. 4 game a number.
•While the game is going on, the coach calls out a number (1, 2, 3, or 4).
•If a player’s number has been called, they must kneel down while his team is playing defense. They may get up when their team is on offense.
•Change numbers every 2 minutes or so.
•This makes the game a 4 vs. 3 game. Therefore it is easeir to attack. It also gives younger players a sense of transitions from attack to defense.
Coaching Points
•Team shape and attacking skills.
•Passing and support. Make sure players are moving into open areas so that passes can be made easily.
•Defending team must make sure that they do not get too stretched out, as they will be easy to beat if they do.
