Team Knock Out

Back to Activities

Description
•Players with the ball attempt to keep them away from the defending team.
•Defending team comes into the field, tries to steal the balls and put them out.
•If an attacking player looses a ball, they immediately try to regain possession.
•Game stops when all of the balls are put through the goals.
•If the ball goes out of bounds during the course of play, that ball is restarted with a throw-in or kick-in.
•Size of field and number of goals varies dependent on team size.

Coaching Points
•Individual shielding and possession skills.
•Transition play.
•Passing and receiving
•Group cooperation. It is a good idea to allow the teams to get together and decide how they are going to play the game. Have them answer some of the following questions:
-What do they do after they loose a ball . . . support or play keeper?
-How will they defend, individually or in groups of 2, 3?
-Where is the best place to try to keep a ball?
